Be a Living Icon! Our Eyes
The eyes of an icon are large, and depending on the tradition can be overly large compared to the rest of the face. In an icon of Christ, the eyes show us that Christ sees everything. "For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open." Luke 8:17In an icon of a saint, the eyes show us that the saint is constantly looking at God, as we read in Hebrews, "...fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith." Or in Psalm 141, "But my eyes are fixed on you O God, the Lord."
Are your eyes drifting away from Christ? Have you forgotten that He sees all? Use this Great Fast to reset your gaze back on Him. He is merciful and forgiving!
