Byzantine Basics: Liturgical Posture
What is the proper liturgical posture during Divine Liturgy?
That's right! It's standing! The standing posture shows reverence and reminds us that we are people of the resurrection. Kneeling and prostrations are reserved for penitential or repentent prayers, like Presanctified Liturgies or the Great Canon of St. Andrew of Crete.
