Today we celebrate the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, when St. Helen discovered the true cross. Each year, we celebrate the finding of the true cross and venerate it due to the redemption won for us through Jesus hanging on it. We recognize that without the cross, our salvation would not have been won. And so we honor and reverence and cross, in gratitude for everything Jesus did for us to win our salvation.
