The Meeting of Our Lord with Simeon and Anna
Today we celebrate the meeting of Our Lord with Simeon and Anna. Both of them had longed for the coming of the Messiah. Both had prayed in the temple day after day. Both had a hope because of the promise God made many many years earlier to their ancestors.
You may be struggling with something now, wondering will God ever fulfill His promise? Will He come through and meet me here? Where is He?
The answer of course, is yes, but it might take years for that yes to be fulfilled. Or it could be yes, but not in the way you'd like, and even that might take years to be fulfilled. Remember the hope and faith that Simeon and Anna had. They were old! They may have despaired at some point. And yet, one day, the Messiah walked in. (Well, presumably was carried by his parents.) We too may despair that God won't meet us in our sorrow, in our pain, in a trial. But one day, He will walk in and make Himself known in a way He's never made Himself known before.
Ask Saints Simeon and Anna to intercede on your behalf, to give you patience and hope in the waiting.
