The Nativity of the Theotokos
Today we celebrate the birth of the Theotokos. We commemorate her birth as a momentous occasion, since it is through her that God's divine plan was fulfilled. We sing with the angel Gabriel:
"Rejoice, O full of grace, the Lord is with you!
Because of you He has granted us great mercy"
