Thomas Sunday
Yesterday we celebrated Thomas Sunday, where St. Thomas is able to put his hands in the nail wounds of Jesus and in His side. In matins we sing,
"You did not deem him unworthy for his lack of faith, but in your goodness, you confirmed his faith by showing him your pure side and the wounds in your hands and feet."
I (Beth) love the outpouring of mercy that is shown by Jesus to St. Thomas. St. Thomas, in his humanity, expressed disbelief and terms of his belief. Jesus, looks on him lovingly and meets Thomas where he is. That is exactly how Jesus is with us! He looks on us lovingly and meets us where we are.
Thank you Lord, for the outpouring of your mercy upon us, and in meeting us where we are in our walks of life. St. Thomas, please ask Our Lord for a deepening of our faith.
