St. Pachomius

Yesterday we celebrated the feast of St. Pachomius. St. Pachomius is known as the founder of cenobitic monasteries, which are monastic men or women who live in community. St. Pachomius started out living the hermitic life, but had a vision in prayer of communal monastic life. He started out slowly and at his death there were 9 monasteries for men and 2 monasteries for women. The rule of St. Pachomius was used both by Sts. Basil and Benedict when they wrote their rules for monastic life.

St. Pachomius, pray for us!
