Feast Day, Saints -

The Holy Apostle James

Today we celebrate the feast of St. James, son of Alphaeus, one of the twelve apostles. St. James is mentioned quite infrequently in the Gospels, which makes reflecting on his life here a bit challenging for me the writer. :-)  He is known for evangelizing in Eleutheropolis, in Palestine, and then in Egypt where he was martyred.

How can we imitate St. James? We can think of St. James' quiet contributions in the Gospel, and follow Jesus with purpose, not looking for glory or fanfare. Let us pray for quiet courage, to live out our faith in our ordinary lives.
