The Holy Apostle Timothy
Today we celebrate the feast of St. Timothy. St. Timothy worked and traveled with St. Paul, whose writings to St. Timothy we read today. St. Timothy was appointed the bishop of Ephesus and was stoned to death when protesting a procession in honor of the goddess Diana.
One of my (Beth) favorite Bible passages is 1 Tim 4:12 where St. Paul exhorts and encourages St. Timothy to set an example for believers despite his youth. That passage gave me something to strive for when in my teenage years and early 20s. Even now I find it helpful to be reminded of our calling as Christians. We are to set the example for others, believers and non-believers alike.
